Head-tie Ban

Woke up this morning and thought I’d have a little moan about an item that almost every… ‘woman of colour’ has hidden somewhere in her bedroom… I’m sure even Halle has one somewhere... Most can’t go to bed without one… ain’t talking about no dildo, cuddly bear or hot water bottle… I’m talking about that dutty sweaty coco-butter smelling rag that spends most of it's time under a pillow… the head-scarf… head-tie… head-wrap… what ever you wanna call it…

I know you're thinking... first, it was the weave and... now the head-tie... but, this is not attack on the gal dem... just a friendly reminder that head-ties are the most annoying item that a woman owns... even more annoying than that stretch-out t-shirt you wear to bed sometimes. I have no love for 'em and I'm sure I’m not the only guy that feels this way... bun the head-tie!

Ladies… I understand their purpose... maintenance blah blah blah... but honestly… it's an eyesore and should be kept out of sight at all times… it is not at all sexy... don't care if it matches your bra and panties... it's not lingerie... since when did Anne Summers sell matching bra, panties and head-tie…

I’m not gonna lie... seen a few ‘okay-ish’ silk looking ones... but the majority are 100% polyester rags... made of any left-over waste material... dish cloth... net curtain... anything... how you gonna go bed with net curtain on your head… and claim to be classy? tut tut...

These days, the modern woman is so confident… she feels no way to wear her head-tie... even when her 'love interest' is around... absolutely no shame... no respect for her man… supposed to be hiding that shit but instead… she is skipping around the bedroom looking like a garden gnome… and an even bigger piss-take is... wearing a head-tie outside the house... on de (actual) roads… nutters…. [Pause] I’m gonna stop now cos I can feel myself getting emotional…

As of today, i'm gonna be policing the 'Head-tie ban'.... Fellas, if you feel me (no homo)… you need to start snatching off these head-ties… can’t run any longer… same goes for wasteman du-rags… bun them all.

I'm not talking about an full ban. You can wear your head-rag in your house, if you must... just not outside cos i'll be forced to snatch that and dispose of it... i warned ya

I am cracking up in front of my screen at work... my colleagues must think I'm secretly on drugs!!

Well my personal opinion is - Guys want us to look good, so you don't have a say in this matter!!! I don't wear a weave but I still wear a head scarf at night sometimes... I ain't a white gurl & i'm sure my boyfriend don't want me waking up with no dull head or worse still half my hair on the pillow from where the cotton pillow ripped out all my hair!!
Do you really think I wanna be wearing that hot ass thing on my head ??? uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh nah! It ain't by choice!
My hairdresser says if I don't wrap and tie my hair @ night my hair will break - I have experienced this first hand!

So Tech & all you other guys who ain't got a clue... IF U DON'T LIKE IT LUMP IT!!!!

Oh... to all the girls wearing them outside the confines of you own house.... That is just wrong!

Tech stop wimping out.... you did say you want on a ban on them... full spot

Look at you girls... Tryin to rally together and defend the head rag. Don't make me call for back up. U don't really want it.

I have to agree with Lei on this one. The head tie for a black female (weave or no weave) is an absolute necessity. Although I do have to admit that I do tend to refrain from wearing it in the presence of male company. The reason for this is that one of my best friends is a male and during one of our many debates on what is acceptable amongst Males and Females, he put forward a very good argument for why men don't find this particular item attractive; would love to break it down for you but it would take too long... but it made sense! I think men feel the same way about Head Ties on women as women feel about sandals on men... it's just not a good look. But in the privacy of your own home, Rock Ya Head Tie With Pride!!!

Ye Capo, you give these chicks a couple inches (lol) and they want a whole mile. See what happened when we started letting the weave slide.. Now we got a nation of chicks with bad weaves.. Gotta put a stop to this head tie ting. Straight snatch and grab bizness! allday!

You know what yea,
Ima keep it real - Theres nothing I like more than a womans hair looking FRESH and HEALTHY - weave or no weave and So ima sit in favour of the head tie if thats whats neccessary to avoid "my-hair-looks-effed-a-ritus" that is plaguing the city right now. So go 'head and where the head tie...but AFTER SEX!!!

Heels arent comfy but you sacrifice to be sexy then rock the pumps when you going to the market!Keep the head tie off - sacrifice for your man...then put it on AFTER.
deal?

You Know Who I Am said...

I can't believe that this is such a heated issue. We can't wear Head Ties and yet we can't have our hair looking less than 100% on point all day every day... we can't win. Do you guys not realise that for your girl to look dope there has to be some preparation involved. Obviously not too much prep as this could be a problem (LOL). I'm sure none of you would kick Halle or Keri or Keyshia out of bed if they chose to sleep with a Head Tie on. On road, a no no, but at home it should be accepted. If you have already seen your other half at her best then you should be able to handle seeing her in a Head Tie every once and a while. We don't conplain when that Shape Up is a couple days over due...

I might start wearing my head tie to work u know.

5 day 24-7 wrap-a-dap!!

Head ties out of doors..ABSOLUTE no-no!
Now the sister that is guilty of this crime should hang her head in shame..
As for you guys, who are forever complaining about the head tie...just leave it alone! its absolutely neccessary!
if you don't like, don't date a black woman, its as simple as that!

Mr Lewiboro said...

'ole on gal... no u didn't bring up the 'shape-up'! oh my days, these girls are getting brave...

...and believe it or not, you'd find Halle pon de bedroom floor... i'd kick her out the bed one-time, if she tried wearing a tie...

errrr... actually, i'd give her some emotional loving first... buss... snatch the tie and direct her to the nearest bus stop.

Lol its joke when ur dating the boom ting and then she draws for the rag transforming herself into a pirate "oooh arrrr me arties..." All that's missing is a cutlass, parot and skull n cross bones flag. If she's brazen she will rock that and a was white t'shirt strutting around like She's hotter than lava.

To an extent its necessary but it aint sexy, although nor are split ends, badly behaved hair strands or seeing more tracks than national rail. Long n short fellas take tje ruff with the smooth but make sure she washes it cos of u wake up with spots its probably from last weeks grease ozing off of that f**king head tie. (Abszie)

WOW!!! i am seriously shocked at how shallow u are T.

Ok, i completely understand what u guys are saying about it being unattractive and all that BS but like all the girls have said it necessary and aint ever gonna change!!!

If u just started linking som1, obviously its not advisable for them to start putting on their head ties but from when u getting serious with som1, i dont see y it shud be a problem.

Like earlier stated, we dont say we gonna kick u lot out of bed for looking a bit grizzly. if we can tolerate a lot of ur (guys) flaws then i dont see y u (guys) do the same for us!!

Abszie is completely right about washing that shit!! its plain nasty if the girl dont wash it regulary especially when us black girls are constantly greasing our heads.

And u know for a fact T, that u wont be kicking Halle nowhere, but i see that u have to stand by ur argument!!! lol

Wear my headtie! PROUDLY! Not on road, and its an emilio pucci silk scarf not one of them rags. I've seen some of my cousins with a few that should be quarantined. Its a health hazard.

WOW, One minute you fellas are dissin' the weave now its the head tie... but how is the lady sposed to maintain the weave and even natural hair without a head tie??? No excuse for the raggy, bobbling ones that aint seen the washing machine in how long.... but come on guys if your lady looks that awful with a head tie on maybe you ought to do some re-thinking???

Somethings got to give...

Too funny!!

Can i just say that the Head Tie is a necessary, it is only worn at nite to go to bed, and the only person present at that time shouldnt be bothered how sexy i look.

Can i just add that mine isnt Dirty or Smelly as i have two Silk ones on rotation that gets washed once-a-week-ish.

P.S : men STOP wearing du-rags on road, ITS NOT A GOOD LOOK. u even get some of them that dont even have hair or plaits to cover, what is that all about LOL
