At one point last week, my facebook status was "Tayo is 'quite a catch' according to a reliable source"... one of my 'friends' suggested that the 'reliable source' was my mum...
I think she was trying to boy it, but she redeemed herself by privately sending the below....
"Of course u are a good catch, looks, a degree, car, prospects, u are going places (I hate giving u compliments!!) Anyway, any girl can smell ur progress a mile off and will want to jump on ur band wagon and enjoy the ride with you, but will be QUICK to jump off when the going gets tough!!
Its in to be a Wifey, so girls are trying to secure themselves whatever is left of the good stock, i.e. you Tayo, you are the GOOD STOCK!! What you will find now is that girls who in the past thought they too nice, begin to become ALOT more friendly, hugging you that bit more tightly when they see you, laughing just bit louder @ your dry jokes!!! THOSE are the ones you need to be weary of, because they are the fickle ones, the fairweather girls who go where the wind takes them, leaving in their wake GOOD STOCK who have become bitter and distrusting because of ill treatment!!
The ball is in ur court Tayo, and u can use it to your advantage, just remember GIRLS are a guys Kryptonite, but only if she is the WRONG girl!! Iron sharpens iron, so get with someone that can push u to be better!!

Eventhough I wouldn't recommend sending me 'fan-mail' (.. my head's big enough already), I'm glad she did. She raised a good point... being a wifey is in fashion at the moment... girls are really looking to settle down, but not me, fam.
'Good Stock'? Me?... I always thought I was a good for nothing asshole, but it's nice to know someone is looking out for me....
By the way, the 'reliable source' wasn't my mum... It was a very hot chick... that never tells lies.

Tay...i totally agree, stay well clear of those gold diggin part-time girls! You deserve better, someone who is on par with yr success and ambition, someone who will stick by u through the good n the bad. It may seem those girls dont exist, but trust me they do...im one of them, as u well know ;) Keep doin yr thang and dont let yr judgement be clouded by beauty alone. Keep it real!

Hey, what's with this wifey epidemic all of a sudden? Is is the case now that if you're not 'wified' off then you're just a 'link'. Is there no middle ground? What happened to the days of "Exclusive Dating", where you didn't necessarily need a title but you still had status. I'm obviously from the old school. Anyway, as far as "good stock" is concerned, I suppose having someone who is at least on your level does make sense. Someone who is not only able but WILLING to do for you what they are capable of doing for themeselves. Would'nt focus to hard on them having a degree and a car as main qualities to look out for though, nowadays there are good reasons for people not having these things... I do have a degree BTW, just not a car anymore :(. But I wouldn't write someone off If they didn't have either depending on the reasons. You should maybe start the application process to find your perfect match for sometime next year T. lets face it, your not getting any younger, Gold Diggas need not apply! :)
